Vacation Bible School

We just completed a great week of Vacation Bible School (July
21-25) at St.
Paul’s. We
are grateful to the Lord and to our many members who
helped to teach, assist teachers, decorate the classrooms, prepare name tags and
register children, help with recreation and singing and pray for the children
and staff. During the week we
visited “SonWorld Adventure Park” where
we discovered all the joys of helping kids to choose to BELIEVE, choose to ACT,
choose FORGIVENESS, choose to OBEY and choose Jesus for life! We
had 84 children attend the morning session and 37 in the evening. There
were 52 staff members between the morning and evenings sessions! Our Sister Pat
Jones provided excellent leadership for VBS; Kristina Masters and V.J. Bradford
did a great job of providing recreation; and Pastor Bill, Sister Lisa Andrews
and Sister Barbara Masters led us in our opening singing, and
Sister Pat with the closings. The
staff of the Christian Children’s Center assisted in the classrooms and provided
crafts and snacks for both sessions. It
was a “good problem” when we had to add another class for the evening session to
accommodate all the first grade children who showed up at the last minute! Much
appreciation to Sister Gail Andrews for doing “double duty” in teaching that
class along with her morning group of 3 and 4 year olds!
It
was a special joy to see many of the VBS children come to St.
Paul’s with their
family members at our informal worship on Sunday, July 27. The
children and staff sang the VBS songs, including our theme song, “Choose Jesus,”
accompanied by Barbara and Lisa on piano and guitar. We
all had a great time, in spite of the heat, gathering on the church lawn for our
annual church picnic, organized by Sister Pat Jones and Brother Bobby Taylor. Bobby
guided his crew as they set up, grilled and served an awesome meal to nearly 150
members and visitors under the tents and cherry trees. Young
and old(er) alike enjoyed games and races, led by
Pastor Bill and Sister Pat. We thank
the Lord and all who helped to make this a wonderful day for St.
Paul’s Church!
All
of us on staff are very grateful to Sister
Pat Jones who volunteered to
be Director of VBS this year! She was so very well organized that everything ran
smoothly . . . from decorations and crayons to first aid and security . . . and
then on Sunday guiding us through another amazing Church Picnic . . . she did a
marvelous job and one that is much appreciated! There
is surely a place for Sister Pat in heaven, leading all the little angels in a
rap version of praise songs!!
